Welcome to the Garden of the Gods Recreation Area. Part of the Shawnee Hills, the rock formations and cliffs are made of sandstone and are about 320 million years old. Time and erosion have created wonderful views that are great for picture taking. Signs have been placed along the observation trail to provide specific information. Other trail systems run through this area. Make sure you have a map and proper clothing if you decide to venture out on one of the longer trails. Trail maps can be purchased at the ranger stations. Pharaoh Campground and a picnic area are also nearby so you can take your time, relax and enjoy the wonders of the Garden of the Gods
