Jonesboro is the site of the first Ranger Station for the western half of the Shawnee National Forest, which was originally called the Illini Unit. From 1933 to 1936 the U.S. Forest Service leased space in Jonesboro at the First National Bank and the Igerly Building before the ranger station was built. In 1975 the station was remodeled. This is the building that you see today. Please step inside to say hello and pick up more information about the Shawnee National Forest.
